In many states, like Florida, both lawyers and non-lawyers compete to provide real estate closing services to consumers.
The United States Department of Justice (”DOJ”) and the Federal Trade Commission (”FTC”) advises states to reject laws that prohibit non-lawyers from providing real estate closing services:
